Working on a new oil painting
I'm working on a new 16" x 20" oil painting that is loosely based on a painting I did a long time ago. It's not exactly the same of course. I am happy that warmer weather is finally here. Is it just me or was it a long winter? Now I can get out into my unheated studio where toxic fumes are less of a problem. It is so good to be painting in oil again, there is nothing like it. I hope to post a photo of the new painting soon.
Tractor
Sometimes picking a name for a painting can be tough, but sometimes the title is so obvious it seems silly. Of course if all else fails I'll go with "Untitled #9."

Digital art
The digitally enhanced photo of the day is "Worman's Mill". The future of this beautiful stone building is in doubt. Developers plan to build a large housing development and a shopping center across the street to the left. I'm hoping that someone with a lot of money will renovate it. It would be perfect for small shops. Half of the windows are actually missing. In the photo I repaired them by cloning from the ones that remain. Too bad it is not that easy in real life. I hate to think that it may someday be torn down by people who have no appreciation for history.

Fine art marketing aspirations
I have begun to entertain the notion of marketing my paintings for fun and profit, because I could use a lot more of both. In the early 80's I sold a few oil paintings at a local consignment shop but they went out of business and took three of my paintings with them. My fine art marketing skills are limited to say the least. I have an opportunity to rent 10' x 10' sidewalk space in early May. For $50 they provide the space and hopefully paying customers, but nothing else. I have some homework to do.

more artwork
A fishing trip with a friend to Virginia's Shenandoah River inspired this 11"x14" painting titled "South Branch". The medium is acrylic paint on stretched canvas.
I painted "Sunlit Meadow" 18"x24" several years ago and just got around to signing it after a few minor touch-ups. Are paintings ever really finished? This one is also acrylic on stretched canvas.

My latest painting
My latest painting "Detrick Farm", acrylic on canvas, measures 16 x 20. I completed it during our blizzard in February 2010.
"New Market Church" watercolor on acid free paper (11x14) was completed last summer.
Dis-organized
Okay, I need to get organized. I need to unpack the boxes and loose the clutter. My problem is I seem to have a love-hate relationship with clutter. I must be the original pack rat. If I am going to ever get ahead I need to determine what is important and leave the rest behind. So I'm off... clutter beware :)
